初中英语演讲稿 篇一

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I’m Angela Zhang from Class 4 Grade 8. Today, my topic is, “The Shanghai World Expo”。

First, I’ll say something about World Expo History. As we know, the very first World Expo, the Great Exhibition of 1851, took place in the Crystal Palace in London. UK. Ever since then, the goals of World Expos have been both high-minded as well as commercial. Visitors are able to explore the world outside of their everyday experience-outside cultures, new scientific advancements, and new inventions. World Expos have excited and inspired more and more people in the world.

On December3, 20**, the Bureau of International Expositions (or call it BIE) announced that Shanghai will host Expo20**. the BIE had received bids from five cities to host Expo20** 。Among the 5 nice cities, the BIE chose Shanghai at last! It’s really an exciting news for not only Shanghainese, but also all of Chinese people. Here are some details about it.

Look at this profile carefully. The title is “The 2010 World Exposition ,Shanghai, China ”。 this is the logo.

And the theme is “better city., better life”。OK, let’s guess who is the image representative? Yeah, you’re right, Yao Ming!

Shanghai Expo is the first comprehensive World Expo held in a developing country. And it is also the first one that takes “the city” as its theme, hoping that it can push forward the city development and help bring about a better urban living environment, just like the theme: better city, better life.

I think, as a student in Shanghai, we should learn to be a gentle person and keep good manners from now on. And try to practice English more in order to communicate with foreigners fluently in the near future. Because, we’re a part of Shanghai!

Ladies and gentlemen, your honored judges

When you're leaving the hotel will you look into a mirror and adjust yourclothes in front of it. But if it were a black mirror what could we get? Withtechnology developing at a rocket speed, the black mirror is everywhere, on thescreens of our cellphones, our computers and our televisions. In our daily life,we are always facing black mirrors. However, we can hardly see ourselves in it.Perhaps sometimes we can, but only as a colourless face. Technology has broughtgreat convenience of communication for information but at the same time, it haswebbed our thought.

Several years ago, an article named “Is Google making us stupid” got quitepopular on the Internet. At that time, I thought it was just alarmism but now Ifind it much worse because technology is not just making us stupid but alsoweakening our independent thought. About half year ago, I was invited to judge adebate competition. When I arrived at the competition room, I noticed it was anold and classic topic, so I was expecting those players to give me some new andspecial ideas. Unfortunately, when the game continued, I found all theviewpoints and examples they used were totally the same as the previouscompetition. The only fun during the competition was to predict what they wouldsay. As far as I was concerned, they were not making a debate but replaying avideo. Obviously, they just spoke for the black mirror.

Debate was born as an area that we use our own thought to defend ouropinion. However due to high technology, all these "My opinion is" in thecompetition are actually "The opinion I have found is". That is , really, atragedy because all human dignity lies in thought which has been weakened byconvenient technology.

Truth to be told, debate is not the only example. In every field, we canget whatever information or opinions we want from the almighty black mirror. Asa consequence, how to restructure human thought has become not only importantbut also necessary in today's technologically advanced world. And the answer ishumanism which stands for human independent special mind. Just as humanism freedpeople's thought from the force of religion in the Renaissance, I'm waiting inthe hope that it can rescue the ideology trapped in high technology. Humanism isa Lodestar guiding us to the era that anyone can form their own opinion aboutanything but not just speak the words from the Internet.

Ladies and gentlemen, I'm not an anti-technologist but I do care aboutthose disadvantages that technology brings to our present life. With the laundrymachine, we don't know how to hand wash clothes clean. With electronic addressbooks, we can even hardly remember our girlfriends or boyfriends' phone numbers. And now with a convenient way to get opinion, we seldom think with our own mind.If so, human is only a reed, the feeblest thing in nature. So follow the spiritof humanism, have an independent mind, so that we can be colorful in those blackmirrors.

初中英语演讲稿 篇三

good afternoon ,ladies and gentlemen!

i’m very honored to stand here and give you a short speech! my topic is opportunities and challenges.

first, i would like to know, what does your destiny offer you? happiness, wisdom, a strong body or something else. if i had asked this question to president nixon, he would probably had said,”our destiny offers not the cup of despair, but the chalice of opportunity.”

needless to say, one of the biggest opportunities given to china is the XX olympic games. till now, we have used two sevenths of the preparation time. how much changes have you seen? new roads, new subway lines, public-exercising equipments with beautiful colors, large blocks of grass fields, and also lots of modern gyms which are under construction.

other than those, there are even more good effects brought to us by the olympic games that cannot be seen directly. for example, more and more people will get to know china. i’m sure the mysterious chinese culture will attract them strongly. and the games will also do good to the economy and environment, for it is gaining the attention of foreign investors and the awareness of environmental protection is being strengthened. what is more, olympic games give a unique opportunity to inspire and educate a new generation of chinese youth with the olympic values and the olympic spirit. now that we have seen so many advances, could you even imagine us losing the holding rights?

i’ve already said a lot about the olympics and china. but i think everyone should use some time to think of this question, ”does the olympic games have any special meaning to you?”

for us, i mean the chinese youth, XX olympic games is a tremendous gift. because what we are waiting for is to do something significant as repaying the love given to-§ us 。the society is just like a ship, and in our dreams the captain is waving his hand and saying ”hey! come here and take the helm! ”how charming his voice is, but we have never heard of it in our true life. this morning, however, when we wake up, we will see the olympic games waving its hand. after chewing, most of us will have at least one plan about what to do for the olympic games. and mine is to be a “comforter” -that is someone who will give comfort to others.

at the end of my speech, i hope all the preparation will go well, and everyone will show their ability to the world. let us seize opportunities and give a big smile to challenges.
